Did you know that in previous centuries, more than 400 rowboats were built yearly in Saint-Laurent-de-l’île-d’Orléans?
Did you also know that the Saint-Laurent shipyard built wooden schooners for the Canadian Navy?
This summer, make the Parc Maritime de Saint-Laurent your port-of-call! This site is a living witness of a long gone era. For commercial purposes and strengthened by their pride, people from Île d’Orléans quickly conquered the waters of the St. Lawrence river. The Parc Maritime is a unique location that offers privileged access to the river where you can experience the historical era of traditional and industrial naval construction on Île d’Orléans.
A MAGNIFICIENT SITE OFFERING THREE UNIQUE THEMES
- Life on the island
- Traditional ship building plus the Chalouperie Godbout
- Commercial ship building and the shipyard
Located on the shores of the St. Lawrence river, the Parc Maritime gives access to a unique environment where you will discover the amazingly prolific maritime heritage of Île d’Orléans. From June 9th to October 8th 2012, we welcome you daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
